THE HYBRID YOU CAN FEEL
The all-new CR-V Hybrid offers the sport drive of an SUV with the fuel efficiency and low emissions of a hybrid powertrain. The magic of Honda’s intelligent multi-mode drive (i-MMD) system means that reducing fuel consumption doesn’t mean sacrificing driving pleasure. In fact, the hybrid powertrain gives you a responsive drive by delivering enhanced power when you need it – as well as the ability to run silently in electric drive mode. All this technology delivers a dynamic drive that we call Honda Hybrid Performance.
Honda Hybrid Performance uses intelligent Multi-Mode Drive (i-MMD) technology to transition seamlessly between power sources. It combines two electric motors and a 2.0L i-VTEC Atkinson Cycle petrol engine with three distinct drive modes to ensure optimum power and efficiency. EV Drive – in the EV Drive an electric propulsion motor drives energy from the battery to power the wheels. Suitable for city driving. Hybrid Drive – in Hybrid Drive the electric motor powers the wheels with the petrol engine acting as an electric generator. Suitable for suburban driving. Engine Drive – in the Engine Drive the petrol engine directly powers the wheels for optimum driving at higher speeds. Suitable for highway cruising.
Put simply, Electric Drive is when the car is running silently on pure electricity and drawing its power from the battery via a drive motor; this mode will usually be used when accelerating from standstill or during low speed cruising.
In EV Drive an electric propulsion motor drives energy from the battery to power the wheels. Suitable for city driving.
In Hybrid Mode, both the petrol engine and electric motors are sharing the work, for example when accelerating at speed.
Engine Mode, as the name implies, is when the petrol engine is directly powering the car - such as during sustained high-speed motoring.
