Introducing the Jaguar F-Type
The new F-TYPE has been radically updated, with dramatic styling changes both inside and out. It looks very different to the previous generation F-TYPE but remains unmistakably Jaguar.
Interior technology has been refreshed too, with a 12.3-inch configurable Interactive Driver Display and both Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ connectivity improving the overall driving experience.
Engines and transmissions have had an overhaul too, with a choice of four and eight-cylinder engines plus quick shift transmissions that have been recalibrated for a further enhanced driving experience.
Jaguar set themselves the challenge of designing the most beautiful sports car when they decided to update the already drop-dead gorgeous F-TYPE.
The already award-winning design has been modernised with super-slim pixel LED headlights, plus signature daytime running lights and sweeping indicator lenses that blend seamlessly into the reshaped clamshell bonnet. The front bumper has a larger, more aggressive grille that leaves you in no doubt about its sporting ability.
While most of the changes happened up front, there are some visible updates to the side profile and rear of the car that are subtle enough so that you know it's a new model but keeps the distinctive F-TYPE shape. Open-top car enthusiasts will be pleased to know that it's available as both a Coupé and Convertible.
Inside the new F-TYPE you will find beautifully sculptured lightweight seats and ambient lighting that you can adjust to match your mood. There's been a big focus on technology too.
The most important update is the inclusion of the Interactive Driver Display that replaces the traditional instrument cluster. This configurable 12.3-inch high-resolution digital display allows you to decide what you want to see.
Touch Pro in-car infotainment allows you to connect to the world through a 10-inch touchscreen, that houses the online media as well as Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ functionality. A Meridian™ sound system lets you enjoy your favourite music to its full potential, when you're not listening to the Active Sports Exhaust (standard on all models), of course.
Some of the biggest changes for the new F-TYPE have come underneath, with a range of revised engines that suit the car's athletic nature perfectly.
The updated supercharged Jaguar V8 produces 444bhp of power and is available with either rear-wheel or all-wheel drive depending on your preference, while the F-TYPE R gets 567bhp and all-wheel drive as standard. Both deliver truly breath-taking levels of performance.
Four-cylinder models remain, with rear-wheel drive 296bhp entry-level models providing plenty of thrills with the advantage of lower fuel consumption. Every new F-TYPE will be fitted with Jaguar's quick shift automatic transmission that is smooth and seamless in automatic mode but provides extremely fast, crisp gear changes when the driver takes control via the steering wheel-mounted paddles.
Improving an already tremendously compelling sports car package was the challenge facing the Jaguar engineering team, but they have managed it convincingly.
An enhanced and uprated chassis is paired with gloriously sonorous engines and responsive transmissions to make this not only one of the most engaging cars to drive quickly, but a comfortable cross-continent cruiser, too.
