The XC40 marries form and function in our distinctive Scandinavian style. Details are considered, beautiful, practical.
The silhouette is streamlined for a striking appearance while also housing sensors. The expressive grille adds to the car’s powerful look and helps efficiently cool the engine. And wider rear wheels add to the car’s confident stance while optimising handling and control.
A roof spoiler dials up the car’s athletic presence. It also boosts aerodynamic efficiency and hides a brake light and rear wiper washer nozzle. The integrated rear diffuser further improves handling by increasing downforce and minimising drag.
The XC40 packs comfortable seating for up to five people and a spacious boot into a lean package. And while it retains the ride height and ground clearance SUV drivers love, its compact size makes it practical, especially in urban areas.
The boot of your XC40 can hold up to 569 litres. Fold down the rear seat backrests to bump that up to 1432 litres, including a 77-litre compartment under the boot floor.
The cockpit extends the clean Scandinavian minimalism of the exterior design. Nothing is superfluous. Everything is where you expected it to be, from the driver and centre displays to thoughtfully placed storage for bags, devices and life's little extras.
Featuring dual-clutch technology, this seven-speed automatic combines fuel-saving efficiency with a responsive driving experience. Adding to the dynamic feel of being in control, gears are shifted instantaneously and torque is delivered without disruption. And when you’re in the mood for more active driving, you can also shift gears manually.
Hill Start Assist allows you to start uphill or downhill without the car moving while you move your foot from the brake pedal to the accelerator. It keeps the brakes applied a short period after you've released the brake pedal.
Hill Descent Control offers controlled descents on steep, rough and slippery roads. When activated, it helps you descend smoothly from 8 to 40 km/h using engine braking or, if needed, by braking each wheel individually – you just have to steer. You can brake anytime or, if you prefer, accelerate to adapt the speed. The smooth accelerator characteristics of Hill Descent Control also makes it easier to move off when towing a heavy trailer or a boat on a trailer up a ramp. It also works in reverse gear.
